Rochford District Council awards first ‘Safe at Home’ grant
Rochford District Council has awarded its first ’Safe at Home’ grant to a resident in Rayleigh. The council provided the grant, for residents living at home with dementia, to Joyce Bright. Joyce and her daughter and carer Gail applied for the grant to make adaptations around her home to assist with improving her living conditions.
The ‘Safe at Home’ grant was launched last year and was made available to support residents living in their home with dementia. Those affected by dementia can apply for the grant, up to £1,000, to make improvements to their homes.
The grant, funded through Public Health, paid for replacing Joyce’s carpet in her bedroom with laminate flooring and the installation of a sensor light in the hallway and other fixtures.
