Council ‘failed in its local plan duty’

Castle Point Council has “failed in its duty to co-operate” over changing its local plan, according to an inspector’s report… meaning the documents has to go back to the drawing board.

Earlier this year, councillors at Castle Point controversially agreed to put the latest draft version of the borough’s local plan out for public consultation, having reduced the number of homes proposed over the next 20 years from 4,000 to just 2,000.

As part of the consultation process, the Government planning inspector wrote to neighbouring councils asking for views on the plans.
