Chelmsford man accused of attempting to meet child for sex arrested
A man accused of arranging to meet a child for sex has been arrested outside a hotel in Chelmsford. Peter Richardson, 48, was wanted by police after he failed to appear at court for a hearing on Thursday (February 15).
His absence caused a judge at Basildon Magistrates’ Court to issue a warrant for his arrest. Richardson, of Bishop Road, Chelmsford , is alleged to have attempted to meet a boy under the age of 16 following grooming.
It is claimed he intentionally attempted to meet with a child having communicated with him on July 6 and 7 last year. The messages are alleged to have had the purpose of Richardson performing a sex act upon the teenager. Richardson was summoned to court and not charged, despite information to the contrary being circulated on social media.
